Last weekend saw Oakenden Bike Polo head out to Nuremberg to compete in the first leg of the European Cup for 2017.
In bright sunshine and big temperatures, eight teams from Germany, France and the UK competed to get a good start into this years competition to take onto the next two legs. I am pleased to report that Oakenden Bike Polo gave a good showing of themselves this year as we sent out two teams from our Kent base with the 1st & 2nd teams achieving 3rd and 6th respectively.
For the first team it was a close fought match against Sanvic of Le Havre that saw the team miss out on second place, but no one can fault the effort of the team that produced some fantastic polo over the weekend. For the second team however, Germany was a much happier hunting ground with the 2nd’s placing two positions higher than last year.
Much thanks must be given to our German hosts Polonauten RC Wendelstein who once again set the stage for what is always a fantastic tournament, and now focus is now set firmly on Oakenden Bike Polo who will be hosting our leg of the Bike Polo European Cup at Vigo Rugby Club on 1st – 2nd July 2017.
Hope to see you all there.
